When I think of spring, I think of flowers and lace ("April showers bring May flowers").  After the major snowstorm in the Midwest, sometimes referred to as the "Snowpocalypse," my friend and I must have had the unconscious desire to dress for spring when we both decided to wear lacey, floral patterned dresses a few weeks ago. After some time shopping at the mall this past weekend, I realized just how prevalent florals and lace are amongst the racks of spring dresses and flirty tops.  This is definitely a trend that I'm a fan of!  I love lace because it feels so delicate and feminine, and flowers serve as a constant reminder that spring is on its way.  Also, there are so many different floral patterns, and most are bright and colorful.  Keep checking back for more spring outfits as the weather continues to warm up. With some outfits, the key to looking stylish and put together is adding a few simple accessories.  Here is a look at a before and after: Before:                                                    After: The first accessory I added to this outfit to give the dress more shape was a belt at my natural waist.  A belt helps to find your shape in a loose fitting outfit, and to break up a pattern.  The second accessory I added was a beaded necklace.  The neckline on this dress is a neutral color close to my skin tone, so adding a dark necklace gives a little pop and also defines where the dress starts making the neck appear longer. One of my favorite staples of the winter season is the cardigan.  If you've spent some time flipping through magazines or wandering around the mall, you've probably noticed that one of the most popular cardigan styles of this season is the boyfriend cardigan with a crest.  The first time I fell in love with the boyfriend cardigan was when I saw Anne Hathaway wearing one in The Devil Wears Prada . Boyfriend cardigans are super casual and comfortable, but there's just something about them that makes you feel great!  What I love most about the boyfriend cardigan is that it's both functional (great pockets and warm material) and trendy.  On the left is one that I wore last week. In an attempt to avoid falling into the winter blues, I always try to brighten up my winter wardrobe.  One way I like to do this is by wearing a mix of pastels and fall colors or patterns, while adding thick tights or a sweater to stay warm.  Have fun with colors, patterns, or accessories to stand out against the gray and dreary winter weather!  Below are two outfits from last week.
