Lots of loves!

Image
Everyone loves the classic black and white, "always classy," look.  Why not add a twist on the classics with an animal print?  I love this Ann Taylor leopard print sheath dress!  Best of all, it's really comfortable!!!  The dress is a knit of rayon and spandex that truly moves with you, not against you.  Also, the ruching on the sides makes the dress really flattering on any body type.  Although I love the dress by itself, I can't help but add a little of my own personality.  To accent my shape (or to make it appear as if I have some shape) I add a black belt just above my belly button.  Since I wore this dress to work, I threw on a black cardigan to keep myself warm in the air conditioning.  I also wore a simple black and white pearl bracelet that my dad gave me for Christmas.  Since the dress is busy, I keep the accessories minimal. This outfit is full of items I love:  the dress, a stretchy belt, and the shoes.  I ...

Start fall off on the wild side!

Although the weather may still be hot and humid, fall is on it's way!  Brown is a traditional fall color, and as I realized while back to school shopping, it's starting to appear in mass quantities in stores.  So, why not pair a plain ol' brown shirt with a fun skirt to make the transition into fall a little more exciting?  That's what I did in the pictures below, when I paired a simple brown tee with a bold animal print pencil skirt.  I added a long gold necklace with a pendant to dress up the tee.  Where can you get this look? - Shirt:  SO.  See similar here . - Skirt:  Ann Taylor - Necklace:  Ann Taylor . Update

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update.  I've been out of town in Michigan visiting with family and haven't been able to upload any pictures, but I'll be back home soon.  Check back for several new blog posts with lots of pictures coming within the next week :-) Leave a comment :  What's your "must have" item when you go away on a trip? (Mine's a neutral cardigan.  You never know what the weather will be like when you're gone for over a week!)

Loving Tights

Image
Today I worked a long day at my college's box office and then attended the evening's show.  We were really busy since we were selling tickets for the show that opened tonight and continues through this weekend and the next.  I knew it'd be a long day so I wanted to wear something that was comfortable, but still nice since I also worked during the show.  I decided to wear my floral dress because it is really comfy.  The elastic waistband stretches so it's still comfortable to sit down in.  Also, the dress is pleated enough along the bottom that I can sit lazily in my desk chair, even crossing my legs, and still be covered. I paired tights with the dress to stay warm in the air conditioned box office and theatre.  As you'll notice once we get further into the fall and winter, I LOVE TIGHTS!!!  They're the perfect way to make an outfit your own or add a little pop to a simple dress or shirt and skirt combo.  Specifically, I love HUE opaque tights....

Mini-Golf

Image
Tonight I went mini-golfing with some of my good friends.  To say it was humid out would be an understatement, so I was thankful I wore shorts that breathed well and a thin cotton t-shirt.  The cowboy boots may have been a little out of place on the greens, but they're so comfortable that I love to wear them whenever I can.  Plus, since it rained most of the day before we hit the course, I was glad I wore shoes that kept my feet completely dry.  Although the bugs stopped us from playing the second of the two 18-hole courses, we still had a great time complete with a hole and one, some cheering, a bit of stomping, and lots of laughs. Switch it Up: Work and Bowling

Image
Today I worked an early shift at the retail store.  I wanted to wear something that I'd be able to wear that night when I went out bowling with friends.  I chose to wear a patterned tank with a black cardigan and black dress-crops.  I paired the necklace my boyfriend got me for my birthday with three bracelets for accessories, and wore black and white peep toe wedges to make my legs look extra long with the crops.  I picked this outfit because it's easy to switch it up for the evening.  All I had to do was swap the crops for black jean-leggings and lose the cardigan, and I was all set for a night out!  Check out the outfit below :-D  Come back later for pictures from bowling. Time to go meet up with everyone! Outfit of the Day

Image
Today I worked at the retail store.  We sell mostly dress clothes for working women, so we're expected to wear clothing similar to that in our store when we're at work.  Today I wore the outfit seen in these pictures.  As I mentioned in my previous post, I paired my Ann Taylor necklace and bracelet with my simple striped 3/4 length sleeve t-shirt and slacks to make the outfit more dressy.  It's amazing what a little bit of jewelry can do!  I also added a shiny silver belt and patent open-toed silver shoes to complete the look.  Best of all, not only did I feel great in my outfit, but I also felt insanely comfortable!!!  I'll be wearing this shirt with my sweatpants tonight as I watch the season finale of "The Bachelorette."  Gotta love a shirt that can be dressed up for work, yet still casual and comfortable enough to lounge around in :-)  I bought it in a navy color today, too! A Quick "Piece of the Moment" Post

Image
As I was putting together my outfit for work at the retail store tomorrow afternoon, I laid out a necklace to go with it and realized that I've been wearing this necklace a lot lately.  It's one that I purchased to wear to a wedding a few weeks ago.  When I initially bought the piece, I wasn't sure it was one that I'd be wearing too often since it's somewhat dressy, but the longer I've had it the more possibilities I've discovered for wearing it.  Not only did I wear the necklace to the wedding, I wore it to dress up a simple black dress for work at my college's box office the other night, and I'm wearing it tomorrow to add a little pizazz to my shirt and dress-slack combo.  Check out the necklace here and in the pictures above and below from the wedding! Welcome!

Thanks! Firstly, I'd like to thank you for visiting my blog!  Fashion and style are special parts of my everyday life, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to share my ideas on these topics with you. So how and when did I fall in love with fashion??? The first time I ever seriously cared about the way I looked was when I was 9 years old and I decided to enter my first beauty pageant at a local mall when I lived in California.  I lived there with my mom in an apartment while I was trying my luck in the acting business, while my dad kept our home in Michigan (My mom and I came back to MI when I was 10 years old and I continued acting closer to home).  Prior to this beauty pageant, I was a tomboy.  Anyone who knows me now won't believe that statement without proof, resulting in a scavenger hunt through old pictures to find the ones of me in basketball shorts, t-shirts, and my pokemon or star wars hat (so I was a little bit of a nerdy-kid too ;-D).  I'll try t...
